Absract. The competence approach is one of the most effective in pedagogical practice in the world. It is dictated by the influence of the democratic educational paradigms, especially the person-oriented and constructivist ones. Through it, it is expected to form creative and capable young people able to deal with various challenges. This approach is flexible and can be implemented through different
forms, methods and means of training in school practice. The project as one of
them is an insufficiently explored path for the systematic realization of this approach. The purpose of this publication is to reveal the relationship between the competence approach and project-based learning, as well as the attitude of primary school teachers and students to the school project. In this way, basic guidelines can be outlined for its more effective implementation in school practice, which will help the primary teacher. The modern pedagogue is faced with many challenges, which is why any professional support and help is important for his professional confirmation and improvement.
